The Paragon is a profession first introduced in Guild Wars Nightfall. The word Paragon is used to describe a model of excellence, or one who represents the ideal of their kind.

The Paragon is a ranged support character who buffs teammates and helps them combat conditions, while throwing spears at range. The Paragon may use shouts and chants to buff their teammates. Despite their quite high energy of 30 they only have 2 pips of regen; the Paragon makes use of adrenaline based skills to offset this.

The Paragon has an angelic appearance with white armor. Several chants have an animation showing feathered wings extending from the Paragon's back, giving them even more of an angelic aura. They wield spears, weapons with the range of a shortbow, as well as use shields, which are tied to the Command and Motivation attributes.

Despite being classified a support character, the Paragon is the only other class apart from the Warrior whose base armor rating goes up to 80; they are also the only other class to naturally equip shields. However, Warriors are still better armored thanks to their usual +20 bonus against physical attacks. The patron gods of the Paragon are Dwayna and Balthazar.

• Leadership (Primary): You gain 1 Energy for each ally affected by one of your Shouts or Chants (maximum 1 Energy for every 2 ranks).
  • Leadership skills
• Spear Mastery: Spear Mastery increases the damage you do with spears and your chance to inflict a critical hit when using a spear. Many skills, especially spear attack skills, become more effective with higher Spear Mastery.
  • Spear Mastery skills
• Command: No inherent effect. Many Paragon skills, especially those that protect your allies or increase your tactical position on the battlefield, become more effective with higher Command.
  • Command skills
• Motivation: No inherent effect. Many Paragon skills, especially those related to Energy management or that inspire your allies, become more effective with higher Motivation.
