[edit] Equipment
- a zealous long range bow, such as an Ironwing Flatbow
- a non-zealous weapon set, for use when recharging outside of combat.
- a Marksman's Mask of Superior Marksmanship
- a full set of Druid's Armor
[edit] Usage
position your spirit outside of combat range, and pull your first group. cast Brutal Weapon as the group approaches and begin barraging. should your weapon spell be removed or replaced, recast it as soon as energy permits.
When facing a single target or group of targets using defensive stances, use Guided Weapon to assure hits. Be aware that guided weapon is both more expensive and shorter then brutal weapon, and provides no +damage.
Should energy become tight, while fighting a group, sacrifice brutal weapon before barrage. When facing a single target with low or no energy, cease barrage and maintain brutal weapon.
It is advisable to stay far from combat, as defensive options are limited.
[edit] Counters
- Energy denial
- on-hit or on-attack hexes, such as Spiteful Spirit or Empathy
- offensive weapons spells, such as Dulled Weapon
- Blindness and Weakness
[edit] Variants
- Replace Guided Weapon and Favorable Winds with Charm Animal and Comfort Animal for B/P Teams.
- This build has 14 unexpended attribute points, which can be used to raise expertise to 8, or any unlisted attribute to 4.
[edit] Notes
- When combined at these levels, barrage, favorable winds, and brutal weapon deal 35 +damage per arrow.
- Before editing this build, remember that Barrage removes preparations upon cast, therefore making their use impractical.
- Gross energy usage is roughly 128 energy per minute of constant barraging, assuming a non-zealous weapon. Standard ranger energy recovery provides 60 energy per minute. This build will easily expend all energy in less than a minute of full barrage. A zealous weapon, however, can return as much as 6 energy per barrage.
- The additional damage from barrage exceeds the additional damage from brutal weapon by 50%, but the cost of barrage is 125% more then brutal weapon over the same period. in an energy shortage, brutal weapon is more efficient, but returns less energy from zealous modifications.
