[edit] Description
The Flatbow is a bow with the range of the Longbow and the speed of the Shortbow, but it balances these strengths with a very long flight time. It has the highest arc of any bow in the game, with the result that moving targets will more frequently be missed, and the arrows are easier to dodge. In PvE this is of less concern, as many creatures will sit at a particular location, but in PvP, the constant movement and direction changes can result in a high miss rate, especially at a range.
Tyrian Flatbows are identical in appearance to Ascalon Bows, with two sets of limbs. Canthan Flatbows are made of wood and metal, with feathers and a wrapping, with the same appearance as Feathered Flatbows. Both appearance types are shared with Longbows.
Many players compensate for the bow's long flight time with either the Nature Ritual Favorable Winds or the preparation Read the Wind to increase the speed of arrows by lowering the arc. This decreased flight time works to vastly improve the accuracy.
Other weapons with this appearance:
- Feathered version:
- Feathered Longbow
- Feathered Flatbow
- Longbow (feathered)
- Split version:
- Ascalon Bow (all 5 types)
- Longbow (split)
- Wooden Longbow
[edit] Dye Effects
Dye colors the wooden part and the wrappings on the feathered version.
