The Burning Locust is a PvE build that can be used when
in a team, but not while soloing. The idea is to have a high chance
of double strikes and critical hits to provide constant damage,
boosted by Conjure Flame. An unblockable combo also helps
with facing enemies that block or evade, or otherwise when you need
additional damage to take down a foe.
[edit] Attributes and Skills
[edit] Equipment
- Any armor works, but you should have energy bonuses in Runes of
Attunement or Radiant Insignias.
- A Fiery pair of Daggers
are necesary, and of Enchanting is preferred.
- Try to maintain Way of Perfection, Locust's Fury,
and Conjure
Flame as much as possible.
- When you get close to the enemy, cast Critical
Defenses.
- For the most part, simply attacking provides a good amount of
damage, especially to ememies with low AL, but when faced with a
stronger foe or blocking/evasive stances, use your attack
chain.
[edit] Counters
- The general melee counters apply, such as Blindness.
- Being Crippled
and then the foe kiting
makes it hard to sustain all of the skills, and for you to deal any
damage.
- A quick, hard spike
could easily overpower any and all of the healing bonuses in the
build.
- Heavy enchant removal will signifigantly reduce your damage,
defense and healing abilities, and so should be avoided.
- Hexes that damage you for attacking, such as Spiteful Spirit
will be devastating, because of your high chance of double
striking.
[edit] Variants
- Replace the resurrect skill with a healing skill such as Shadow Refuge
and Feigned Neutrality, or Mark of Rodgort
when not needed.
- Way of Perfection can be replaced with a more straightforeward
healing skill such as Shadow Refuge.
- Your attack chain could be replaced with any other attack
chain, as long as it has a short recharge and a reasonable energy
cost. You should be getting plenty of energy back through Critical
Strikes, however.
- Conjure Flame could be replaced by any other conjure element,
but you will need the appropriate daggers.
- If you trust your healers, Critical Defenses or Way of
Perfection could be replaced by Mark of Rodgort.
- With Locust's Fury up, you have a 55% chance of double
striking.
- You have about a 43% chance of making a critical hit each 1.33
seconds (factoring in double strikes).
- If you can, ask your monk to bring Vigorous Spirit, which is
very efficient healing due to double striking.
