This is an Assassin build designed for PvE use but can also work
in PvP quite well, much like the Build:A/W BoA Assassin build
being used a lot in HA. It uses the synergy between warrior
secondary to knockdown the enemy and create a chain from that, and
uses its elite to begin part of its chain. The reason for Shove is
because Assassins do not need any particular elite to be effective,
so a cheap knockdown that does not cause exhaustion works well even
in the elite slot.
[edit] Attributes and Skills
- The optional slot should be filled with either a Shadow Arts
skill for keeping yourself alive, or more damage from a skill like
Bull's
Strike, Leviathan's Sweep or Malicious
Strike can be nice, but unnecessary over the skills listed
below.
- Most of the time Dark Escape, Return or Feigned Neutrality will be the best
choice, and you will likely want to invest the remaining attribute
points into Shadow Arts with a Minor Shadow Arts Rune if it goes
over the breakpoints for each skill.
- If PvPing as a spike, consider Burst of
Aggression to increase attack speed.
[edit] Equipment
- Survivor or Radiant Insignia are useful.
- Major Dagger Mastery Rune works, but Superior is an option, as
well as Minor.
- Superiour Vigour or whatever closest you can get.
- Minor Critical Strikes rune, and Minor Shadow Arts rune if you
are running skills from Shadow Arts.
- A set of Vampiric and a set of Zealous Daggers, 15^50 and of
Fortitude, or any other mod of you're preference if you do not like
the +30 health mods.
- See Ceremonial Daggers and Shiro's
Blades.
- Very simple, you have two chains, one requires a knockdown, the
other requires nothing. Use them alternately and use Twisting Fangs
if its recharged, and Blades of Steel if its not.
- Aim for overextending enemy Warriors so as to not disrupt your
own monks, or if you're relatively safe aim for the backline or
midline enemies that pose a threat to you're monks.
- This build is designed to reduce the effort needed from the
Monks by taking out any Elementalists, Warriors or anti-Monk
Mesmers. Killing enemy monks helps you're team kill the rest of the
team while you recharge.
- Vampiric Daggers whilst chaining, and Zealous Daggers at the
other times.
- Remember to spam Golden Fox Strike Wild Strike Dual Attack
whenever you can.
[edit] Counters
- Spiteful Spirit, Empathy, Insidous Parasite type skills.
- Inability to release chain due to anti-KD skills, lack of
energy, or blinding/ Miss inducing hexes.
[edit] Variants
For the optional slot:
- Critical Defenses is an option, but not that great, because you
will not be attacking at all times, so you do not become an enemy
target.
- Or see under the skillbar.
Tested in the Fissure of Woe to great success. Works well with
Mesmers running Hex Eater Vortex and/or Shatter Hex. Created by me,
Renegade, but I am sorry if this is already in circulation without
my notice.
