The general consensus among users of GuildWiki is that this build is not viable. |

Assassins are considered poor choice for team play because they cause an undue burden on the team's healer players. Therefore, the self-healing Mr Survivor build can be used to allow a A/Mo to enjoy a sustained charge against one or many foes. Per-Hit and quid-pro-quo spells like Vigorous Spirit and Balthazar's Spirit provide the HP and Energy needed to stay in the fray as long as necessary. Sustainable strike skills like Repeating Strike mean the attack can last as long as it needs to.
[edit] Attributes and Skills
Any / Any | Attribute Rank |
---|---|
Dagger Mastery | 12 + 1 + 3 |
Critical Strikes | 10 + 1 |
Healing Prayers | 8 |
Some preferred optional skills are:
- Healing Breeze - Cast this skill before or during battle to ensure a high rate of HP recovery.
- Rebirth - If you are asked to bring resurrect abilities.
- Viper's Defense - If a quick escape will be necessary Vipers Defense can be activated to prevent death.
- Generic Lead Attack - GLS has a cooldown rate slower than the other skills in this build, causing it to be a bottle neck during a sustained strike. Another lead attack will provide another venue for inflicting damage.
[edit] Equipment
- Armor - Full suit of shrouded armor with survivor insignias is recommended for an energy/HP boost.
- Weapons - Daggers with +15% Damage, 20/20 sundering, or Dagger Mastery +1 mods recommended.
[edit] Usage
This build is used in team play for missions or exploration. Begin by casting Balthazar's Spirit on yourself, along with Live Vicariously. Be liberal with "L-Vic" since it provides you with HP regardless of whom it is cast on. If another assassin, warrior, or ranger is present, cast it on him or her if desired. Note that these two spells will bring you down to two pips of energy regeneration, and any more casting will reduce it to one or zero. If you reduce your energy regeneration to zero pips Golden Lotus Strike, Balthazar's Spirit, and critical strikes will be your sole source of energy income!
Before battle, cast any other desired spells like Vigorous Spirit or Healing Breeze.
Once in the fray, Golden Lotus Strike can be used to gain a significant energy boost. This energy, along with the yield from Balthazar's Spirit, is used in Fox Fangs and a sustained attack with Repeating Strike. Continue spamming Repeating Strike while energy permits. When GLS has cooled down, and if there is energy remaining, use Death Blossom, then Golden Lotus, then repeat the cycle.
Any errors in this cycle can be waited out while Golden Lotus Strike recharges, guaranteeing an energy boost. If death becomes a likely outcome, use your optional skill if it is battle-oriented. Healing Breeze can be recast, and Viper's Defense can mean a quick escape.
[edit] Counters
This build can be countered by the usual anti-melee tactics such as cripple and blind. It is also somewhat vulnerable to disenchantment, since it robs this build of an important HP/Energy source.
[edit] Variants
Major variants include the use of other melee sets besides the sustained attack skills listed above. Other popular chains of skills include "falling spider" poison sets and "horns of the ox" sets.
[edit] Notes
This build is somewhat more robust than other self-healing builds. It provides a buffer such that
- if energy is drained by mesmer skills,
- if the melee skills are improperly timed, or
- if melee skills are blocked, denied, evaded, or otherwise do not hit,
the assassin may stay in battle as long as his or her health remains high. The Mr Survivor build provides venues to keep HP as high as possible.
Also, Balthazar's Spirit is only available in the Prophecies campaign. If you do not own that campaign, consider it an optional slot for another quid-pro-quo style enchantment, spell, or skill.
