[edit] Should this category exist?

There have now been a number of articles that are classified as "farming builds", but which have clear non-farming uses.

Ignore for the moment some of these pages include "farm" in their titles. The argument for categorizing them as "farming" builds is that farming is usually the principal use of the build. However, I have plenty of friends who have gone on 8 man trapping runs in the UW and they would balk at the "farming" label. The duo FoW run has, according to the author of the build article, been created primarily as a challenge. The barrage/pet build was also initially a challenge build, and in its early days I was involved in a number of timing runs in order to obtain the fastest clear times. I have raised this point before -- that a build and its use should be separated. If a build has a farming use, it should be mantioned, but the article should not be permanently dead-ended in Category:Farming builds.

People who think like me—and I've met many such people— see "farming" as a plague on the game and refuse to have anything to do with it. We may otherwise miss out on some rather interesting builds such as the duo FoW build if we were to go solely by categories. The builds themselves in most of these cases are quite ho hum, but these articles often have strategies that are worth their weight in ecto even for non-farming teams. For instance, were it not for the stance tank strategy popularized by book trick FoW teams and keg/gear SF teams, we would not have the highly successful "torchway" strategy for THK. Were it not for the popularity of echo SS in SF farming teams, necros today would still be considered a minion mastery or battery class. The point is -- for better or worse, farming defines the PvE metagame insofar as one exists. Thus, these builds should be given more prominence than some fourth level buried subcategory somewhere.

I think this is a fine category to exist. That said, I think builds should absolutely be able to be in multiple categories. Have a "Farming" sub-section in the article itself, detailing how to use it for farming and where it is effective. --JoDiamonds 05:36, 21 March 2006 (CST)
Well many builds that are in PvP could as well be used in PvE and the other way round. Why do we have categories? To help people find faster what they are searching, not to forbid checking those that they are not looking for. I dont like farming as well, but everyone not touching a build article just because it is in that category ... well their choice imho. --Xeeron 05:58, 21 March 2006 (CST)

What happened to the FF builds?

As i see it more and more users add their pages to this page and as a result of that this page become unorganised and unfavored build get on here, and manny users copy the code to put on their own page, making a duplicate on this page. could everyone who does that take their pages off here, so we can keep this wiki as good as we can Dumazz 10:35, 5 April 2007 (CDT)

[edit] Major Build Problems

The build pages are being swarmed with people trying to archive a build and not knowing how to do it. These builds are now filling up all build spaces. Will some one please clear out all those builds, like the farming section.Stevo101 23:42, 7 April 2007 (CDT)

With the new loot-party size ratio, all solo builds need to be seriously reevaluated.

Loot-party size ratio doesnt mean it goes down when you're alone (It might, but who knows?), and you can always flag henchies. Kamer
