This build is a very simple method to farm the Mountain Trolls in Talus Chute, outside of Droknar's Forge. Through the use of a Hammer with 0 points in Hammer Mastery, your target will be guaranteed to be Knocked down without dying, allowing you to trigger "On Your Knees!" to instantly recharge Gladiator's Defense. Through maintaining Gladiator's Defense at all times, this build is able to kill Trolls at an exceptional rate.

[edit] Equipment
Any armor set will do as long as it is the maximum (Droknars armor level). Most commonly use would be Gladiator's Armor and Tactician's Helm. However, you will be taking very little damage and very few hits so using the best of the best equipment isn't a requirement at all.
[edit] Usage
Before entering the Troll cave pay attention to the position of the Avicaras outside. If they are right outside the cave mouth then you will want to rezone and try again. If they are a little down the hill then it is possible to outrun them and enter the cave safely where you can regenerate your life before fighting the Trolls. It is a good idea to sprint past the Avicara's as they can deal massive amounts of damage in a short period of time.
There will be 1 large group of Trolls and several smaller groups along with 2 groups that contain 1 boss each. It's typically a good idea to run past the large group and aggro the smaller groups towards the back of the cave to get as many as you can. The boss groups are easy to take out except for the bosses themselves so it's a good idea to end your run with the one large group and just rezone.
[edit] Fighting Method
- Once you enter the cave use Vigorous Spirit, followed by Dolyak Signet upon reaching the desired fighting location.
- Use Gladiator's Defense. While enemies are being damaged through Gladiator's Defense, keep attacking to gain adrenaline.
- Counter Blow and "On Your Knees!" should be used when both are charged up. Make sure you see the target Mountain Troll knocked down before triggering "On Your Knees!". Refresh Gladiator's Defense when it ends.
- Healing Signet is to be used to regain health. Make sure Dolyak Signet is active when using Healing Signet, to counter the -40 AL penalty.
- Use "To the Limit!" for an emergency adrenaline boost.
There is very little risk of the Trolls using Disrupting Chop on you, but if they do you come equiped with 2 more skills to handle the situation. They can disrupt and disable Cyclone Axe and Vigorous Spirit making you more vulnerable as you rely on those to heal yourself and deal damage also. If they disrupt Cyclone Axe you will want to use Bonetti's Defense as soon as Gladiator's Defense ends. If you already are using Bonetti's Defense then you will want to use Disciplined Stance when Bonetti's Defense ends and Healing Signet to heal yourself. Build up adrenaline normally by attacking so you can use Bonetti's Defense again and you should be able to safely protect yourself while Gladiator's Defense and Cyclone Axe recharge. If they disrupt Vigorous Spirit then you may want to follow the same path if you notice your health drops fast, however you typically can survive without the additional healing it provides.
Also there are some spawns where you can fight 8-10 Trolls situated outside the cave avoiding Avicara and then go into the cave and fight the other groups but you typically want to play it safe and just do the ones in the cave.
[edit] Enemy notes
They deal straight melee physical damage which is how this build works. You prevent 75% of the damage at all times using any one of your stances and deal damage to them with Gladiator's and Cyclone Axe. They can disrupt you with Disrupting Chop, which also disables your skill for a while, but you have 2 more skills to deal with that situation.
These are a slight threat. If they are too close to the cave mouth the run will be impossible as you will not be able to block most of the damage you will take from them. They will also use hexes and conditions which can disrupt other aspects of the build. Avoid them or run past them, make sure you have not aggroed them when engaging in battle with the Trolls.
Sometimes you will see a lone level 10 Stone Summit or Ice Golem. If one of the Avicara or Troll groups don't take care of them then don't worry because there is very little they can do to you. You can quickly or run past them and continue towards the cave.
[edit] Additional Areas
This build can be used to farm Vermin in Xaquang Skyway, outside of Senji's Corner.
[edit] Variants
- Sprint may be replaced with Rush, but you will be required to activate "To the Limit!" upon encountering Avicara before activating it.
- It is also possible to farm the trolls without the monk secondary, using the Dolyak and Healing Signets to stay alive. In this configuration you are relying less on constant healing, which means that equipping Knight's Armor can provide a significant edge against the trolls physical-only damage.
- Shield Bash can replace Counter Blow. Of course, you will need to equip a Shield for it to be effective. Note that its usage results in a higher chance of killing an enemy rather than Knocking them down.
