[edit] Overview
This is just a fun oriented PvE melee build for ranger players
who want a break from using a bow, don't feel like bunny thumping,
and are turned off by the idea of touching their enemy to do
damage. This is not a solo build, but when played correctly it can
be a fun and useful addition to a team.
[edit] Attributes and Skills
[edit] Equipment
- A max damage sword, ideally with a 15^50 mod. Otherwise aim for
15^stance mod, as you will often be in a stance. A zealous sword will be very
useful for this build as you will be hitting many times in a short
time frame. For the same reason, a vampiric hilt could also be useful. A perfect pommel
of Shelter should
be considered to help make up for your lower armor against physical
damage.
- Consider bringing a second sword, with an elemental damage
modifier, for use against warrior enemies.
- A tactics based shield. Good mods to look for are -2 damage
while in a stance and +health while in a stance. Grognar's
Defender is a good choice, as is the Crimson Carapace Shield from Lord Dorn
Lendrigen.
- Druid's armor with the best vigor rune you can afford. However,
due to the energy effiency of this build, you can probably make do
with any armor set. Explorer's armor and Sentry's armor could both
be beneficial as well.
[edit] Usage notes
Start off with Apply Poison, then rush into battle. Try to get
mulitple enemies around you, then use Hundred Blades to deal damage
and spread poison to as many of them as possible. Use your stances
to stay alive and repeat Hundred Blades every chance you get. When
you get a target below 50% health, hit them with Final Thrust.
Using Hundred Blades builds adrenaline quickly, so you should be
able to use this fairly frequently even with its high adrenaline
cost. Remember to keep your stances up when facing melee enemies,
as your armor will not compare to a warrior's.
