This build is not favored by the
GuildWiki community.
The general consensus among users of GuildWiki is that this
build is not viable.
|
This build takes advantage of the reduced energy cost provided
by Energizing Wind, to cast continuous Burning on target foe through
Mark of
Rodgort, and increasing health degeneration with the pet's Poisonous
Bite, causing fast and armor-ignoring damage. Due to a constant
energy gain produced by Ferocious Strike, and the low recharge time
of the whole combo, the Burning Master can quickly re-apply its
devasting effects on a new foe upon target's death. It is a PvE
oriented build, and will probably be easily countered in PvP.
[edit] Attributes and Skills
[edit] Equipment
- When approaching a group of enemies, use Energizing
Wind. This will reduce Mark of Rodgort's energy cost from 25 to 10,
and increase all your skills recharge by 25%. Most skills in the
build recharge quickly, and those that don't, have a long duration,
so this is not a major concern. The high level of Beast Mastery makes
the spirit last for 158 seconds, so you shouldn't have to cast it
twice in the same battle.
- Just before entering battle, use Call of
Protection, reducing the damage taken by your pet, so you won't
have to heal it too often, allowing you to focus energy spending on
your attacks.
- Choose a target, use Poisonous Bite, cast Mark of Rodgort on it and
attack. At 3 Fire
Magic the Hex will last 15
seconds, and the burning effect will last 2, enough considering that
staves attack once every
1.75 seconds, re-applying the condition before it ends. Once the
pet reaches the target it will become poisoned for 21 seconds, which combined with
burning results in a constant -11 health
degeneration on target foe, keeping max degen (-10
degeneration, 20 health per second), even if +1 health regeneration
is applied.
- Use Ferocious Strike as often as possible. At 14
Expertise it will
only cost 2 energy, while giving you a 10 energy gain and a damage
improved pet attack every 10 seconds (8 seconds recharge plus
25%).
- Under max degeneration, pet and party attacks, an average level
20 or slightly higher target should die right before the hex ends.
By then, Mark of Rodgort and Poisonous Bite will be fully
recharged, and Ferocious Strike would have given you back most of
the energy used. Now you can attack another foe, repeating the
process.
- Use Predatory Bond if you start taking damage.
It'll give you a nice healing (33 health per pet attack, which
happens once every 2 seconds) for 21 seconds, but you should use it
wisely because of its 37 seconds recharge (30 plus 25%). As with
most rangers, it is advised to avoid getting hit.
- Use Comfort Animal if your pet is heavy damaged or
dead. Try not to let it die, as this will disable your skills, and
might keep you from using Ferocious Strike, or any other key skill,
in the right moment.
[edit] Counters
- Hex removal skills will end Mark
of Rodgort and its burning effect, but the spell recharges in about
7 seconds (5 plus 25%) and can be re-applyed (energy is managed by
Ferocious Strike, with a similar recharge), and poison will still
work.
- Condition removal skills
will end Poison, but won't remove Burning effectively because it
re-applies constantly while the Hex is active. Poison can also be
re-applied, in about 9 seconds.
- Massive Health regeneration.
- Changing damage types with skills like Winter.
- Blindness.
- Blocking and Evading.
[edit] Variants
- You may replace Call of Protection with Call of Haste for a
more effective Predatory Bond.
- Lower Beast Mastery level to 14, letting you rise Fire Magic to
level 8, so Mark of Rodgort last 23 seconds and burns for 3
seconds, this way you can use a bow.
