Some good Skills to fill the Optional slot may be:

[edit] Equipment

  • Any armor will do, just pick one that suits you best.
  • A Swift PvP Blood Staff of Mastery with a "Hale and Hearthy" inscription.

[edit] Usage

Before going into battle, ues Mantra of Resolve, maintain this skill at all times.

Pick a monk, and cast Spoil Victor, Backfire, Life Siphon, and Parasitic Bond.

Use Signet of Lost Souls whenever a enemies health goes below 50%.

[edit] Counters

You can handle a few interrupts, but if you would have been interrupted a lot, you'll find yourself out of energy quite fast.

Hex removal spells that remove multiple hexes (like Convert Hexes, Withdraw Hexes, Expel Hexes, Divert Hexes and Contemplation of Purity) can become and issue.

You have very little self heal (Parasitic Bond, Signet of Lost Souls and Life Siphon) and low armor, so you'll be dead quick if you become the target of spike damage. And if you die, Life Siphon and Parasitic Bond will be removed, leaving Spoil Victor and Backfire (if it hasn't expired yet) exposed.

[edit] Variants

You can replace Spoil Victor with Soul Leech, the pros and cons:

  • Soul Leech deals life stealing, providing more self heal.
  • Soul Leech also triggers if the target isn't below the casters health.
  • Soul Leech has a longer casting time, shorter duration, longer recharge, and less damage output then Spoil Victor.
  • Soul Leech triggers only on spells, Spoil Victor also triggers on attacks.

This build focuses highly on making monks harmless. You could stack some more points into Curses and bring Insidious Parasite.
