The Sword Spike Monk is a Monk melee build that utilizes the extra Energy Regeneration and Smiting Prayers skills to provide a higher DPS than most normal Warrior builds. This build is able to deal damage while healing through the use of Divine Boon, as well as remove conditions.

[edit] Equipment
- A Zealous sword of Enchanting which gives 15% damage bonus while enchanted.
- Insightful Staff of Enchanting with 20% chance faster casting and recharge.
- The Acolyte's Armor set is recommended with this build.
- Minor Divine Favor or Smiting Prayers Rune can be switched for Superior if you have a decent healer.
[edit] Usage
- Use staff to attack approaching enemies doing so to gain adrenaline
- Switch to Sword once they are near and cycle through Pure Strike, Jaizhenju Strike, and Quivering Blade
- You may cast Judge's Insight either before you use your staff, or when they begin attacking you to take benefit from Divine Boon, but have it on as often as possible. Use on ally warriors if you can.
- Use heal and and remove condition on yourself and allies when needed, but watch your energy.
- You are a damage dealer, but not a tank, and you will die if you try to face multiple damage dealers. Kite when under too much pressure, your preferred role is to seek out weak, unsuspecting targets for quick kills.
[edit] Variations
- Switch Pure Strike (or Resurrection Signet in Alliance Battles) for either Savage Slash or Distracting Blow to interrupt key skills.
- For PvE, Switch out Divine Favor and Protection Prayers for Healing Prayers, using Cyclone Axe, Triple Chop, Dismember, Executioner's Strike to trigger Vigorous Spirit as much as possible to heal yourself while you use Mending and/or Healing Breeze as well. This allows you to keep your health up very well as well as gaining adrenaline quickly.
[edit] Counters
- Anti-Warrior skills can hinder the build, although it is less susceptable crippling and blinding.
- Simple damage. This build is much more squishy than regular warriors.
- Build's function is dependent on energy, output would be greatly hampered if faced with E-denial.
- Although the build provides a good continuous stream of damage, it lacks interrupt for stopping last-second-heals and key spells, unless you use Savage Slash or Distracting Blow.
- Enchantment removal can decrease output by up to 30%, but due to the relatively short recharge of the spells, it is not as dangerous.
[edit] Notes
This build focuses uses Judge's Insight to increase the damage output while continuously cycling through Pure Strike, Jaizhenju Strike, and Quivering Blade to provide an impressive amount of damage. This build also allows the Sword Monk to heal herself using divine boon with Judge's Insight, Mend Ailment, and Reversal of Fortune, which have short activation times, especially in comparison to Healing Signet. The fast recahrging condition removal means that the build is less prone to blinding than most warriors.
For the output, damage bonus of Swordsmanshp after level 12 rapidly declines, with only 8 damage and 4% critical hit difference between level 12 and 16, whereas Judge's Insight adds a far larger amount of damage than that. A monk can keep up the energy level for Judge's Insight, Pure Strike and Jaihzehnju Strike, as well as heals and condition removals, something a warrior cannot do. This character is not meant to be a healer, and simply cannot last long as one, but if treated as a melee character with proper support, it can do an amount of damage comparable with warriors.
