The Wild Melandru is a general PvE build using Avatar of Melandru both to provide a base for dealing damage and also to stay alive. The build also uses Wild Blow to both prevent evasion stances (used often in Nightfall PvE) and deal high damage via criticals.
[edit] Attributes and Skills
![]() ![]() |
Attribute Rank |
---|---|
Mysticism | 12 + 1 + 2 |
Scythe Mastery | 10 + 2-3 |
Earth Prayers | 8+1 |
- Note, you can use either a Superior or Major Scythe Mastery rune..
[edit] Equipment
- Any armor works, yet Radiant is probably best because of the high energy usage of the Avatar.
- Again, any weapon works, however Vampiric or Zealous weapons probably work best.
[edit] Usage
Just before entering the fray, cast Avatar of Melandru and Vital Boon. When enemies are gathered around, use Eremite's Zeal to gain back energy and then proceed to spam your attacks. Use Wild Blow to add extra damage and also to break stances. Chilling Victory is best used when there are lots of enemies close because the damage can quickly add up, dealing in excess of 100 damage to nearby foes. Spam Wearying Strike as much as you can, energy permitting. Victorious Sweep should both be used as a heal and as a damage attack. You should try to maintain Vital Boon at all times, but if in need of a quick health boost, feel free to use Eremite's Zeal, triggering the 'health on end' effect. When you Avatar is down, it is especially important to keep up Vital Boon. Also, use Chilling Victory more wisely - its relatively high recharge means you should only use it when you know you are above your target's health. Feel free to use Wearying Strike when your Avatar is down, yet it is advisable to make sure you have monks that can remove conditions first.
[edit] Counters
- Foes with very high health - eg bosses or enemies that use health buffs.
- Energy denial seriously hurts this build as does Death Penalty. If your DP is too high, you won't have enough energy to cast Avatar of Melandru without a +energy weapon set to swap to.
[edit] Variants
Vital Boon and Eremite's Zeal are replacable, just use your own form of energy management. You could also use a different set of attack skills, yet the ones listed work very well.
