This build was designed to take advantage of the different Avatar spells on a Dervish and be more of a supportive character in a team. If a team was lacking in tanks, use Avatar of Balthazar. If the team needed some variant of stripping enchantments, one can drop in Avatar of Grenth, etc. etc.

With this modular approach to the build, a person would be able to change one elite skill and support whatever the team needed at that moment.

This build was deigned so that it is very flexible and allows you freedom to use any Avatar skill. Problem with D/ anything, is they are so dependent on energy and they don't quite fit into a definite build like a 'tank'.

[edit] Equipment

Prefer any end game NF scythe.

[edit] Usage

With this build, I have beaten all three chapters and farm Abaddon with it. I also tested it in Faction fighting and I can take out walls by myself and can draw and 'absorb' damage very well. With the boost in armor and stacking movement, the scythe as well as timed release of certain spells allows the team to have an advantage. If the battle last longer than 17 to 30 seconds, the build sets foes on fire and with other spells that cripple, it compliments a fire based ele or a warrior with weapons that do more damage when the foe is crippled.

One other point I'd like to make is when the D/Mo build is in intense battle, the char will be a target by two, three, even four people. I like to go in passive mode and just 'absorb' damage for the team. I spam the reversal, followed by shield guardian and shielding hands.

What this does, is if I get hit, the adjacent allies, (usually tanks) get an added health boost. At the same time, the reversal of fortune negates some of the damage. The shielding hands reduces the total damage by a factor of 12 so with every series of poundings the Derv gets, the three or four foes that spent their energy killing me are vulnerable.

I found that I can stay alive against three NPC eles and a necro, and a warrior.

If this char took too much damage and runs into one of two builds that actually kills him, he can fall back and spam the three monk spells on other members and protect the back line.

[edit] Counters

Three monk skills spammed repeatedly reduces degen up to -6 comfortably.

[edit] Variants

Depending on your skills in scythe, you can add other skills that add health, but then I feel this build is balanced in health regen and striking power.

Recommended Use of Skills:

The series of skills to start would be Avatar of Balth, Shield Guardian and Sheilding hands ""before"" running into battle.

If its a spell caster, use crippling sweep to cripple them. Quickly follow that by a Mystic Sweep because you have at least three enchantments on you giving maximum damage on a weak armored foe.

By this time, you energy has built up so I would set off Heart of fury and Heart of holy flame. You will move 33% faster (on top of the 33% movement with Balth, and you just laid out 60 damage on all adjacent foes). Over time the other skill will set everyone on fire.

At this point you have everyone's attention and start to take damage. Just keep spamming your three monk spells and at this point, your team has laid out two or three foes by the time your fire kicks in and your balth wears out.

In closing, this build is NOT the consumate 'tank'. But it is the most diverse and its very easily adaptable to any build.

I haven't been able to test it in Heroes or Gate of Anguish because of the click thing in that area, but who knows, maybe it will be acceptable at some point. -Golden Bough
