This Dervish exists to both heal and protect against spike damage (in Random arenas especially) while being able to manage energy quite easily along with having condition and hex removal.

    • A scythe to fool unattentive players into believing you are a regular melee Dervish

[edit] Usage

  • Before the upcoming confrontation and while clearly out of a ranger interruption range, activate Vital Boon. Your HP (along with 70 AL Dervish armor) should now be able to handle most spikes against yourself. Use a combo of Shield of Regeneration and Imbue Health to help allies that are being spiked or otherwise pressured. Use Signet of Pious Light regularly but always be sure to have at least one enchantment on yourself before you use it (except it case of extreme emergencies). The enchantment you want to use in combination with Signet of Pious Light is usually Vital Boon, but Shielding Hands, Holy Veil, Shield of Regeneration, and even Reversal of Fortune can be used if Vital Boon has been disabled or is recharging and you need to heal someone fast.

This build's greatest strength is probably the Vital Boon + Signet of Pious Light Combo. You can heal two people simulatenously when you're using Signet of Pious Light (yourself through the health gained when Vital Boon ends, and the ally you target with Signet of Pious Light). Signet of Pious Light ends one enchantment on yourself when you use it and it will recharge immediately unless you have no enchantments on yourself at all.

The 12 ranks in Mysticism will allow you to gain four energy whenever an enchantment ends on you. This is why you can constantly recast Vital Boon on yourself after ending it Signet of Pious Light without worrying about lack of energy.

Imbue Health is for healing other allies only. But if you yourself get spiked or pressured, then you must rely on Vital Boon, Signet of Pious Light, Reversal of Fortune, Holy Veil, Shielding Hands, and Dismiss Condition, and Shield of Regeneration which will bring your AL to 110.

Do not regularly cast (spam) Reversal of Fortune on other allies, the skill will offer no Divine Favor healing bonus because you're not a primary monk, and it's difficult to tell when you should be recasting it (after your ally has been struck). Save Reversal of Fortune spamming for emergencies, such as when Signet of Pious Light is disabled/recharging.

[edit] Variants

[edit] Counters

  • Heavy and constant energy denial, multiple energy degeneration hexes can also cause problems.
  • Interrupts. Even though all the skills are 1/4 to 1 second activation time. Vital Boon and Signet of Pious Light are 1 second and can be interrupted by competent mesmers, rangers, assassins, and warriors. This is where an interrupt ignoring skill like Pious Concentration might come in handy.
  • Dazed, while you can still cast Signet of Pious Light easily, daze/interrupt rangers usually bring several interrupt skills to deal with signets as well as spells.
  • Heavy elementalist damage on all allies, Shield of Regeneration can cut most of it down but not on everybody if they are sitting ducks for an area-of-effect spell.
